VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION EVENTPeg Winchester of Halls Head has been nominated to attend this special event at RAC Head Office. Our sincere congratulations go to her for all the valuable help and assistance she has given over a number of years. WATER POLICE HERE!
Water Police have now established a branch to cover the Peel region. This area has a huge amount of inland waterways including the Peel Inlet, Harvey Estuary, Murray and Serpentine Rivers. Canal developments and supporting infrastructure has given the general public easy access to all manner of aquatic activities. Peel Water Police officers are keen to get started and have an impact on many of the associated problems. At this stage they have five officers (one sergeant and four constables) and two patrol vessels. One of the vessels is a 6 metre jet boat which allows access to shallow waterways. They will deal with boating compliance, marine search & rescue coordination, policing public events, unruly behaviour on vessels, waterside and marine crime etc. It is hoped that assistance in the district will also include situations such as burglaries on canal properties. The first transitional phase will commence on 1st December 2008 when three officers will work in the Peel area. The second phase is planned to commence 29th December 2008 when the remaining two officers will join the team and work ten hour shifts on the waterways. They hope to move into the new building in mid April 2009. OFFICE CLOSURE Please note that the Neighbourhood Office will be closed for the festive season FROM: Monday 15th December 2008 And Re-open Monday 2nd February 2009
Our office is staffed by Alan Richards, (Vice Chairperson, Treasurer & Website Administrator) Mary Hughes & Colin Hartnett (Office assistants) and other volunteers as required. WISHING YOU ALL A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR
