CHAIRPERSON’S NEWS

Greetings and welcome to all members .  Our AGM was held last meeting and Bev Hannaford returned as Vice Chairperson and myself as Chairperson.  There is still lots of work to be done in our community to promote the Neighbourhood Watch ethos. Our area has been expanded to include Pinjarra, Byford/Serpentine, Lake Clifton and Herron and I thank the people in those areas for their tireless volunteer work. If you would like to be involved then please call us for a membership form. Alan Richards

BURGLARIES ON THE RISE

There has been a spike in the number of burglaries in the area. Many of these offences are being committed utilising unlocked doors to enter the premises. Open or unlocked garage doors are a particularly common means of entry at present.

Stealing of Motor vehicles has increased recently. Many vehicles are being stolen as a result of burglaries where the offender finds vehicle keys left in an accessible place such as the kitchen bench or hallway table.

Of the 227 residential burglaries from May 17 to June 13, 36 were through locked or unlocked garage doors and 92 were through unlocked doors and windows.

Remember : if you observe any suspicious activity make note of as much detail as you can and report it to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or for Police attendance phone 131 444.

SAFETY AND SECURITY

The Office of Crime Prevention has recently given us a very informative supply of DVD’s together with Safety and Security booklets that assists people to “design out crime”. If you would like to obtain a copy please call this office on ...9581 4182 or email to: safepeel@southwest.com.au

GOODBYE GRAFFITI

Get serious about getting rid of Graffiti.  The term ‘graffiti vandalism’ refers to defacing private and public property without consent from the property owner.  Graffiti vandalism can take the form of writing, drawing or scratching onto surfaces using different implements such as paint, chalk, markers and stickers.  Graffiti vandalism is illegal. Call 1800 442 255 to make a report.
