5.    Annual report of the Chairperson

Since our last AGM much has happened with Neighbourhood Watch. We sold our bus and had a purpose built trailer constructed and fitted out with a roll-out awning and sign writing.  The City of Mandurah assisted by providing us with a grant of $2,000 to complete the project and we thank them very much for their support.

Perhaps our biggest ever achievement was the Little Nippers Maarwit Festival held in October.  We had a massive day selling 100 burgers, 1000 sausages and 600 cool drinks. Needless to say there were some very tired volunteers at the end of this day.  They were gratefully thanked for such a fantastic effort on the day.

The annual Xmas luncheon, tirelessly organised by Helen Bowell, was held on Tuesday 24th November with 51 people invited to attending. Helen has not been in the best if health lately and we wish her a speedy recovery.

The 2010 year started the way we intended with a sausage sizzle held on the Coodanup foreshore on the 28th March which was a great success. The City of Mandurah sponsored the event and this was also the first time that we made use of our new trailer and it performed magnificently.

Our bank account is healthy and should stay that way now that the expenses of maintaining the bus have gone. But we can only survive by fundraising and utilising our valuable volunteers.

I would like to thank sincerely all the people who have volunteered their help over the past 12 months and of course Amanda Ahearn who has now left to work in another important area of Policing. Snr Const. Phil Tuffin replaced Amanda and has done a great job from inception.  Thanks very much Phil.  There are too many to mention individually but I will endeavour to thank them all personally. Thanks to YOU!!!! NHW is alive and well and we are now poised to make 2010 an even better year.
