2008 By Snr Const. Amanda Ahearn State
NHW Conference Saturday 15th November
Daisy, myself
and Norma Pritchard from Murray NHW attended the conference on Saturday. Quite a
few other branches gave a presentation on what they do in their communities and
it was great to see that we are on par with them. It was also a good chance for
us to get a few new ideas and branching out away from the traditional sausage
sizzles. Coming
events November
– Schoolies roadblock Dates confidential Tuesday
25th November – Christmas Luncheon Tuesday
2nd December – Volunteer Recognition Event This event is
being held to recognize all volunteers that have provided significant
contribution to NHW as they are celebrating their 25year anniversary in WA. Our
very own Peg Winchester has been nominated so Peg & her husband Ernie, Daisy
and myself will be going up to the event. So I congratulate Peg and I think she
is a very worthy nominee. Wednesday
3rd December –
Launch of Eyes on the Street program. The launch will
be at the rotunda on the foreshore and NHW have been invited to cook a sausage
sizzle, have a display and be actively involved in the launch. All the
businesses that have registered with the program will be attending as well as
the mayor, the CEO from the council, staff from the Police DO & station and
community members. It will start at 9am with speeches/formalities at 10am and
concluding at 11am. If you are available it would be great to see as many of you
down at the launch to support the program but also it is a good chance for
people to see that NHW has a strong following here in Mandurah. Saturday
6th December – Crime Prevention Day @ Bunnings OCP &
Bunnings are working together and holding a Crime Prevention Day. OCP staff will
be in attendance and supplying to prom material. I’m waiting on the OCP to get
back to me so for those that are interested; I’ll be able to give you a few
more details. I’ll be there. That’s it
from me but for those that I won’t see again until next year, as this is our
last meeting, a massive thank you for all your hard work during the year. As
I’ve said many times, NHW would never function with the assistance of
yourselves. I can’t thank you enough. It’s been a little difficult for me
attend everything and have the amount of involvement I would like as my role has
changed here at the Police Station but I feel very confident in knowing that
it’s been able to still run efficiently and successfully. Coming
